We provide professional tunnel and geotechnical engineering services across all
stages of a project, from planning and design to construction support and program management.
The proposed North-South Corridor (NSC) comprises a 21.5 km long expressway between East
Coast Parkway and Admiralty Road West, Singapore. The present contract comprises an
approximate route length of 1.55 km cut-and-cover tunnels, two escape shafts and four
ramps. The alignment of main tunnels starts at Ophir Road after Victoria Street and ends
at Bukit Timah Road.
The responsibility was to design the diaphragm wall as a retention system for the
proposed cut-and-cover tunnel while the sequences of excavation was mainly top-down
method of construction for 21.0m deep excavation from existing ground level. Finite
Element Models using PLAXIS software were used to estimate the serviceability and
ultimate limit state analyses while STAAD.pro model was used to estimate the design
forces. Critical sections were analysed in the PLAXIS 3D to estimate the deformation of
existing live tunnels due to the excavation.
MASS RAPID TRANSIT, MRT LINE 5: SOUTHERN ROUTE, BANGLADESH
The alignment of the above-mentioned route comprises around 17.4 km long tunnels and it has
been divided into two major segments. Segment one consists of 11 (eleven) underground MRT
stations, and 18.44 km of total twin bored tunnels while segment two comprises 4 (four)
elevated MRT stations and a 486 m long cut-and-cover tunnel and trough.
The responsibility was to analyse and design of precast segmental bored tunnels,
cut-and-cover tunnels, launching, receiving and ventilation shafts.
Impact assessment, development of response plan, ground instrumentation and monitoring plan.
The responsibility was also covered the technical specification and development of bidding
documents.
The proposed project is located within the site of SIM Campus. The project consists of 2
blocks of 12-storey building. The 2 storey basement car parks.
Responsibility was to administer the subsoil investigation, retaining wall and
foundation contracts. Design of contiguous bored pile wall for the excavation depth of
9.0m from the existing ground level. Another responsibility was to develop ground
instrumentation plan, design support during construction, ensure design safety during
execution and monitoring stages.
The project is located at Bukit Panjang, Singapore and the proposed site is around 10m
than the adjacent road level. The slope is around 60 degrees with horizontal. The
existing ground was soft clay to medium dense sand.
The responsibility was to develop design to stabilize the steep slope using deep soil
mixing technique. FEM model was developed to ensure short- and long-term analyses to
ensure stability within this congested space. The development of technical specification
and design support during construction stage. Monitoring of core sample and ground
response to ensure the quality of works.
The project belongs to British American Tobacco (BAT) company and located at Savar in
Bangladesh. The existing ground is around 6 to 9m below the adjacent road level. The
ground comprised soft soil, which is followed by sand material.
The responsibility was to improve the ground using prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) to
reduce the settlement. Analytical computation and FEM model in PLAXIS was developed to
estimate the time required for 90% degree of consolidation. Computed ground settlement
was monitored and simulated with the measured ground movement and it had good agreement.
The proposed development of the Integrated Sports and Community Development is located
at Canberra Link/Canberra Road, Singapore. The existing ground level was undulated. The
height of proposed cut slope is around 17 m.
The responsibility was to design of a cut-slope. The retaining system for this slope was
soil nail system while the slope surface was protected by using Gread Beam. Design
support was offered during execution stage and monitoring stages for successful
completion.
